In 2008 we decided to raise funds for three charities; they were The Luke Jeffrey Memorial Trust, Help for Heroes and Amicus for Aids.
This time we have decided to choose just one, and raise funds for The Luke Jeffrey Memorial Trust, set up in the memory of Luke Jeffrey, who died from Shallow Water Blackout aged 15. We hope by supporting this charity, we can raise awareness of Shallow Water Blackout, and prevent this happening again to someone else.
The Luke Jeffrey Memorial Trust
This charity was set as a memorial to Luke Jeffrey, a young and talented swimmer from Moreton in Marsh. It aims to promote awareness of “Shallow Water Blackout”, a little known but potentially fatal and under researched risk to young swimmers. In conjunction with Sharon Davies, MBE and Olympic medallist, we are aiming to introduce informative DVDs across the county to alert parents and children to the risks of Shallow Water Blackout. We also aim to promote sport and particularly swimming for underprivileged individuals lacking the financial ability to train.
